Bringing Clarity and Common Sense to Wound Management

Cheryl Dezotti is known for her common sense approach to wound management. In this 12-hour seminar, Cheryl will provide you with the key pieces of practical information that will allow you to piece together the wound management puzzle irrespective of your area of clinical practice.

This is a stand-alone CPD wound management seminar, however, should you be participating in the Nursing CPD Institute’s Wound Management Program you will be credited for the completion of Module 5 and Module 6 by attending this 2-day seminar.

Bringing Clarity and Common Sense to Wound Management | The Gold Coast

12 CPD Hours 21 Mar to 22 Mar, 2019

In this two-day seminar we will explore the aetiology of chronic and hard to heal wounds and learn the clues for successful management that are hidden within a wound assessment. We will focus on the world of biofilms, learning about the impact they have on wounds and identifying the best practice biofilm management actions you can employ in the workplace.

WHAT THIS SEMINAR COVERS

We will focus on the world of biofilms, learning about the impact they have on wounds and identifying the best practice biofilm management actions you can employ in the workplace.

We will explore the key categories of available wound products and review national and international wound management best practice guidelines. A number of ‘must know’ clinical tips will be shared by the presenter during the seminar.

Chronic and Hard to Heal Wounds impact the individual, their family, society and our healthcare economy. With over 3000 wound management products available on the market, it can be particularly challenging for Nurses to select the appropriate wound product/s.

Failure to identify chronic and hard to heal wounds in a timely manner may delay the implementation of specific wound management strategies to support wound healing and places the patient at increased risk of unnecessary wound associated complications.

In acknowledgement of the fact that not all workplaces are well resourced with wound care products, there will be a focus on the baseline selection of products that would allow you to address the majority of wounds that you may see in your clinical practice.

The seminar provides the opportunity to review and problem solve dressing choices for hard to heal wounds.

MODULE 5 LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Gain an understanding of Complex and hard to heal wounds
  • Explore the available strategies to manage biofilm and wound infection
  • Investigate what is best practice wound assessment
  • Review the Nursing strategies that can be applied to the management of complex and hard to heal wounds

MODULE 6 LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Gain an understanding of the common-sense strategies that should underpin product selection
  • Review the large number of wound care products on the market
  • Determine how adequate assessment should drive product selection
  • Discuss examples of various wound types and explore the products best suited to the situation
