The Respiratory Patient

24 CPD Hours

Join us and our Conference Partners, Education at Sea, for the Respiratory Patient Conference on the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland.

This conference is applicable to every area of Nursing/Paramedics, from the acute setting in the emergency department, to the ward Nurse managing a patient with emphysema. Respiratory disorders are increasing and are considered one of the most common disorders affecting all ages.

All Nurses must have advanced knowledge of the red flags and associated clinical presentation of a patient deteriorating with a respiratory disorder regardless of the primary condition of their admission.

Developing knowledge on how to recognise and perform advanced clinical assessment on a patient who is deteriorating is an expectation of the evolving role of the clinical Nurse.

In this conference, we will explore the assessment of a patient with a variety of clinical disorders and emphasis will be given to respiratory disorders. The teaching methodology will contain clinical scenarios that will assist the Nurse to recognise clinical deterioration and apply a critical thinking approach.

The communication strategies to support patient assessment will also be investigated. Assertion training is incorporated into the conference content in recognition of this skill as a vital component of ensuring effective communication within the healthcare team.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explore the skills required to recognise and undertake clinical assessment of the patient with respiratory disease
  • Review a variety of clinical conditions relating to respiratory disease and disorders
  • Discuss respiratory disorders affecting children through to the older adult
  • Discover how to apply critical thinking via a scenario-based teaching approach. Gain assertiveness skills to enhance effective communication, and timely intervention, within the healthcare team

Things to do during your visit

The attractions of the Gold Coast bring smiles to people of all ages and stages. With exhilarating rides, exotic animals and endless waterslides to help you cool off on hot summer days, your Gold Coast holiday offers a full spectrum of interactive entertainment – from dazzling big budget Gold Coast theme parks to small, hilariously kitsch museums.

    Amusements and Theme Parks

The Coast’s kid cred is already world renowned – theme parks rise from the sand and sea. Jump into cute, cuddly and roaring wildlife encounters; worlds built entirely for those that bounce; and ice-creameries serving up sugar highs from just about every corner.

Need a bit of Retail Therapy?

Shopping on the Gold Coast reflects an easy, breezy resort aesthetic – markets, outlet malls, boutiques and high-end designers.

    Enjoy some fabulous food

The Coast is a place where night bites, hatted restaurants, street-eats and breweries are all served with a side of alfresco. A place where five-star feasting means dusting the sand from your feet; where surfers swap their boards for a latte at sun-up and little ones break from beachside frolics to feast on epic spreads of fish and chips.
