A Fabulous new Approach to Continuing Professional Development

Where will your CPD take you?

CPD Travel is a fantastic way to combine an exceptional education program with a fabulous destination.

This is an awesome alternative to the more traditional approach to CPD education.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

CPD is the means by which members of the Nursing profession maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge, expertise and competence, and develop the personal and professional qualities needed throughout their professional lives.

Registration Standard

The Registration standard for CPD is a minimum standard set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Who needs more than 20 CPD Hours?

If you are a Registered Nurse who has an endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner or holds an endorsement for scheduled medicines, you must complete additional CPD requirements.

Total Required = 30 hours

Registered Nurse + Scheduled Medicines Endorsement

Registered Nurse – 20 hrs + Scheduled Medicines endorsement – 10 additional hrs relating to obtaining, supplying and administration of scheduled medicines. Total Required = 30 hrs.

Midwife + Endorsement and/or Notation

Midwife – 20 hours + Endorsement and/or notation – 10 additional hours relating to context of practice,  prescribing and administration of medicines, diagnostic investigations, consultation and referral.
Total Hours = 30 hours

Records

You should maintain records of your CPD activity for five years in case you are audited. If you are required to provide the NMBA with evidence of your CPD activities, your personal portfolio will help demonstrate that you have met the CPD requirements.

Dual Roles

If you are registered as either an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse and a Midwife, you must complete the required amount of CPD for both Nursing and Midwifery.

CPD Activities

If your CPD activities are relevant to both the Nursing profession and the Midwifery profession, you may count those activities as evidence for both Nursing and Midwifery CPD hours.
